Anonymous at 14:11 raises an extremely valid point.

TLS is, as far as I can tell, a mere association of professional people, with little more of a quaint historical and ceromonial significance than one of the City of London’s Worshipful Companies.

The SRA, on the other hand - is the body to whom we are accountable and who, from time to time, prescribe sanctions against us.

Hence, there does appear to be an obvious gap in the landscape for a pooling of financial and practical support for us, the practitioners.

As Anonymous suggests, in amongst the breadth of other professions, we appear to be uniquely and shamefully unwilling to support those of our number in crisis.
