Just ask yourself how many members of staff have left academic institutions with a nice little settlement agreement which contains.....wait for it.....a confidentiality clause. These being much more than mere 'redundancy' payments.

I expect the same can be said for the Law Society and the SRA.

Pay offs and confidentiality clauses are rife in the public sector and big business even if only very few will be to cover up alleged wrongdoing of some sort. In many cases they are considered a perk and almost expected.
