Yes it’s all a conspiracy: nasty men holding women back.

Or could it perhaps be that being a partner is actually a pretty dreadful job and women make the smart choice of taking time out to raise a family?

It makes perfect sense that more men would then aspire for a partnership roles so that they can support their own families. Men will frequently need to earn more so as to provide for the family. That’s how family units work.
