Having signally failed to save the lives of the Tsar and Tsarina - both his first cousins - George V undoubtedly would not have wished this to happen.
Even though the British Government’s failure to insist on the exiling of the Romanovs, an insistence with which Kerensky would gladly have complied as he has come to personally esteem Nicholas, had a lot to do with George V’s concern for his own throne, he never really forgave himself.
