Most interestingly the EU does not stick to its own rule book when it suits it not to. I do not criticise the EU for sticking to the rules, although I do feel it is not because they are inflexible but because they want to send a message.

I personally think that May has done an incredible job against a backdrop of a divided country, divided Parliament, divided parties and in the face of hostility from her own country and the rest of the EU. It cannot be easy to try to arrange something you do not believe in with all of that going on. Quite an impressive lady in my book. Whether or not she has failed in the face of all that will be a matter for sober reflection, but kudos for trying.
