“If you possibly can, get out of criminal work.”

I’m not sure which is the sadder indictment of Parliament’s attitude towards the criminal justice system (compared with the NHS). The fact that it triggers your remark. Or the fact that I and so many of my colleagues would given the opportunity.

These are sad times for salaried solicitors like me. Zero prospect of promotion to partner. Even less of a pay rise.
