I must say, I think the Gazette referring to this as a fine for "misleading letters" is not helping.

The previous article said that the firm was not properly identifying its clients, and was not checking the info that it was putting into claims; essentially just automatically cutting and pasting from an online questionnaire completed by the client.

While the letters may have been misleading, personally I think ignoring money laundering regulations on an industrial scale and other issues surrounding the actual work are the more important factors. It may be that the SRA is focusing on the letters, but they shouldn't be, and neither should the Gazette.

(in my opinion of course, and on the very limited info contained in the articles)
