Anon @ 04:34 yesterday said: 'Freelance solicitors will still need to have indemnity insurance'. How do you reconcile this with the SRA statement that: 'Solicitors working for unregulated businesses could not hold client money but would not require professional indemnity insurance.' Is it not the case that anon @ 14:55 on Wednesday has nailed it, namely that a solicitor can describe him/herself as a practising solicitor so long as he/she does non-reserved work through the medium of an unregulated business and thereby is relieved of the legal obligation to have (a) PI insurance and (b) a Practising Certificate, as well as being free from regulation by the SRA or any other regulator? Oh brave new world that has such peoople in't!
