What did anyone expect? If you slash the costs of doing something of course people will ask the client to contribute and won't have as long to explain funding in exacting detail. And as someone points out below in any other litigation the client expects to pay a proportion of the costs not recovered from the losing party. Somebody should tell the SRA and LSB that solicitors' costs are high because of the work involved. It is a free market after all.
