Perhaps something to the effect that members of the judiciary, simply doing their job, should not have to worry that their families will be dragged through the mud?

Of course this might have been proper journalism, for example checking whether there was any obvious signs of bias (the equivalent of Lord Hoffmann's family connections with Amnesty). However, I doubt that's what the press were considering when looking at pages of the judges' grandkids.
