There's no reference in the article about anybody being "dragged through the mud". Reference is made to journalists reading publicly available material which one assumes was freely posted by the poster. I fail to see what's wrong with that. Whether you're the relative of a judge or not, if you value your privacy, stay off social media. Conversely, if you post on social media, expect that your posts will be read by others.
