Know the feeling. I claim responsibility for bringing the total legal aid payment up to £92,000. I don't generally do legal aid work but did manage to get exceptional funding in a case where I personally represented the family of a detained man who had committed suicide. The inquest lasted a shade under a week, with a subsequent morning hearing. Total fee for the firm (for everything), just over £2000 + VAT, a sum that I doubt would encourage most QCs to get out of bed in the morning!
