The issue presently with the coronal system is that when lawyers are instructed on behalf of their respective parties, they more often than not have their own agenda - whether it is to try and mitigate or defend their own conduct or pushing for a particular conclusion so that a future claim can be made. These agendas do not aid a coroner in investigating the facts of the death so that a record of inquest can be completed. Solicitors and advocates appearing in the coronal courts must remember that its' a completely different system; that blame is not something that won't be dealt with; and they are they to assist the coroner in carrying out his/her duty.
