I agree with Martin @ 08:00. The current figures are almost meaningless.

What really matters is equal pay and for equal work, and equal opportunity for both sexes in every sphere, but the figures don't measure this.

I have worked with women who both want to, and are more than capable of, serving on the boards of major companies or partners in major law firms, but my impression is that less women than men want this as a career choice. So there will always be an un-closable gender pay gap.
