Clerks always got paid very low wages. They always have done and always will.

Until one gets on the Roll. Then the need then and now was / is to prevent blockage there.

So what an absolute mess abolishing the LSF with its 35% pass rate in some institutions, 55% (ish) pass rate across the board.

Above all it sorted out the dance-y Public School types - with or without ore-requisite 'Degree' (it was a mandatory Two - One then not First) ....

Ahhhhh the bliss of results day on the LSF and the smell of urine and the Battlefield of the Somme amongst the Public Schools Swanabeeees ......

Great thing is one could always take them again a couple of times whilst errrrrr an anathema to some - working on the (hush) High Street (say it quick) after clearing the desk with the black bin liner at the City Firm ....

Scruff.
