All defendants have a right to be fairly treated. A text or post on social media could be vital to their defence or indeed to preferring charges or even being interviewed under caution.
The rule of law demands complete fairness. What is deeply unpleasant for women is also deeply unpleasant for men too. There must be parity of dealing.
