Years ago I did a simple will for an elderly lady who died a few years later whereupon the executors brought me a DIY will the client had made on which she had made amendments and used Tippex. As it was validly executed I had to proceed to probate and to cut a long story short the residue was reduced by about £3000 due to the probate court's requirements on which it twice moved the goalposts. At that time our fees for a simple will were £110 plus VAT.
