Frank Stimpson & Son

On 19 July 2019, the adjudication panel resolved to intervene into the remnants of Mr Keith Fender’s former sole practice, Frank Stimpson & Son, formerly at 179 Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, London SE23 1HR.

The firm closed on 29 December 2016. Mr Fender died on 8 May 2019. The grounds for intervention were: it was necessary to intervene into the former sole practice of Mr Fender to protect the interests of his former clients.

No intervention agent has been appointed. The SRA will be making arrangements to collect all papers relating to this firm. 

Bromets Solicitors Limited

On 24 July the panel resolved to intervene into the above-named practice of Edward Anthony Bromet, practising at Bromets Solicitors Limited, of Suite 4, The Haybarn, Parkhill, Walton Road, Wetherby LS22 5DZ, and into the firm Bromets Solicitors Limited.

The grounds for intervention in relation to Edward Anthony Bromet were: there was reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Bromet in connection with his practice as a solicitor; Bromet had breached the SRA Principles 2011 and SRA Accounts Rules 2011. 

The grounds for intervention into Bromets Solicitors Ltd were: there was reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Bromet as a manager of the firm in connection with the firm’s business, and in connection with any trust of which he is or was a trustee in his capacity as such a manager; as manager of the firm, Bromet had failed to comply with the SRA Principles 2011 and SRA Accounts Rules 2011.

Victoria Davey of Gordons LLP, 1 New Augustus Street, Bradford BD1 5LL, tel: 0113 227 0312, has been appointed to act as the Society’s agent. The first date of attendance was 30 July.

Bromet’s practising certificate was suspended as a result of the intervention decision.

The firm Bromets Jackson Heath of Kirkgate House, Tadcaster LS24 9AD is not connected to the intervention, and continues to trade.

Beesley & Company Ltd 

On 5 August 2019, the panel resolved to intervene into Beesley & Company Ltd and into the practice of Mark Andrew Lees at Beesley & Company Ltd, based at Landmark House, Station Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle SK8 7BS.

The grounds for intervention in relation to Lees were: reason to suspect dishonesty in connection with his practice; and failure to comply with the SRA Principles 2011 and the SRA Accounts Rules 2011 which are rules made under sections 31 and 32 of the Solicitors Act 1974 (as amended).

The grounds for intervention in relation to Beesley & Company Ltd were: reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Mark Andrew Lees, a manager of the firm, in connection with its business; and Mark Andrew Lees, as a manager of the firm, and the firm, had failed to comply with the SRA Principles 2011 and the SRA Accounts Rules 2011 which are rules applicable to them under section 9 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985.

Lees’ practising certificate has been suspended as a result of the intervention.
