On 4 September 2017, the panel resolved to intervene into the above-named practice, formerly at 175-177 Borough High Street, London SE1 1XF, and into the practice of Edward Sibley at Sibley Strategic Services Ltd, Tulip House, 70 Borough High Street, London SE1 1XF.
The grounds for intervention were:
- there is reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Sibley in connection with his practice as a solicitor and in connection with Sibley Law LLP’s business;
- Sibley has failed to comply with the rules made under section 31 of the Solicitors Act 1974; and
- it is necessary to intervene into the remnants of Sibley Law LLP to protect the interest of former clients of the firm.
James Dunn of Devonshires Solicitors LLP, 30 Finsbury Circus, London EC2M 7DT, tel: 0207 065 1830, email:firstname.lastname@example.org, has been appointed as intervention agent.
Sibley’s practising certificate has been suspended with immediate effect.
Sibley has indicated that he will be making an application to have the intervention withdrawn.
