Obiter has enjoyed writing in recent years about solicitors going strong at 100. Now word reaches us of a US attorney who can go one better – 101-year-old Murray Shusterman, senior counsel for Philadelphia firm Fox Rothschild.

Shusterman qualified when Franklin D Roosevelt was in the White House and Stanley Baldwin in Downing Street, with Jesse Owens taking four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics. His colleagues marvel at his longevity, apparently joking that if he leaves the office at 4pm he is taking a half-day.
