The Law Society has called for legal aid to be exempt from the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which came into force in June.
It said a number of the provisions are impractical and argued that the EU directive on which the regulations are based was never intended to apply to legal aid.
Controversial Judicial Review and Courts Bill has second reading in House of Commons next week.
