A business which started life as a Liverpool personal injury law firm has secured £13.5m funding for international expansion.

The Spirant Group, which oversees Accident Claims Lawyers UK as well as four other companies in the legal and medical services sectors, has agreed the finance with UK-based BOOOST&Co and Australian business growth specialist Providior.

The group has already expanded from being a PI firm in England to providing a full end-to-end service for injured people pursuing a claim.

The new money will be used to pursue new markets in the USA and Dubai and to ‘supercharge’ the expansion of an alliance of businesses based across both hemispheres.

Simon Gibson, chief executive of Spirant, said the joint investment would lead to the imminent launch of a sixth operation, generate jobs globally and increase efficiency.

‘Despite wider economic gloom and the significant challenges posed by a global pandemic, the talents of our people and their desire to help other businesses to ‘outsource smarter’ through the exploitation of technologies and offer of professional services ‘in a box’ have driven demand for Spirant’s solutions,’ said Gibson.

Spirant, which will celebrate its tenth anniversary this summer, has a combined turnover in excess of £20 million and 150 staff. Gibson launched Accidents Claims Lawyers in 2012 and five years later expanded the business to Australia. The group now also includes Zeus Tech Solutions, Novus Claims Solutions and InstaMed.

Oliver Reece, a principal at BOOST&Co, said: ‘The Spirant team have grown the group into a multinational, multi-discipline offering and put in place a solid long-term strategy to deal with a shifting regulatory and financial environment.’
