Denmark’s lawyer population will more than double next month when thousands of legal professionals from around the world descend on Copenhagen for the International Bar Association’s annual jamboree. But one thing is missing from a packed week-long programme: for the first time since 2013, lawyers won’t be letting their sometimes-thinning hair down at Law Rocks!

Since 2009, the global battle-of-the-bands event has raised millions for local causes at venues such as London’s 100 Club (pictured) and California’s Whisky a Go Go – not to mention Just KPop in Seoul and El Lunario in Mexico City. Sadly, no such site could be found this year. ‘Copenhagen, while a wonderful city, does not have as many live music venues that can accommodate us as so many others have in the past,’ say organisers Nick Child and Damian Hickman. ‘Despite lots of help, our extensive search for a suitable venue has been fruitless. We will, of course, be back with a bang in Singapore in 2027!’

Not that we’ll have to wait that long to watch top legal talent hitting the stage. Obiter understands that a Law Rocks! event is planned for London Arbitration Week later this year. Watch this space.
