Top 50 firm Blake Morgan has offloaded three of its specialist teams – along with 25 staff – following a review of the business.

Southern England firm Enable Law has acquired Blake Morgan’s clinical negligence, personal injury and costs teams, all based in Southampton.

Three partners, Alison McClure, Kym Provan and John White, will make the move along with 22 employees. The team will be based in the same building alongside its sister firm Foot Anstey.

Blake Morgan managing partner Mike Watson said: ‘While we’re sorry to see our colleagues go, Enable Law is the best fit for the practice, and it allows Blake Morgan to focus efforts on growing our healthcare work.

‘We believe it’s the right move for the firm and Enable Law will be able to invest further in the great work the teams have done to date – and no doubt will continue to do.’

Enable Law says it will become one of the largest specialist medical negligence firms in the south of the UK following the acquisition.

Partner and director Rob Antrobus added: ‘The team have a strong fit with Enable Law’s approach and values and have industry-leading reputations.’

Enable Law is part of the Foot Anstey group and became a separately regulated entity in 2017, with a headcount now of more than 100. Foot Anstey moved to Southampton in 2016 with a team of five real estate lawyers and recently added partners Sarah Peacock and Rachel Brooks to its employment and private wealth teams.
