The more critical question is: what is DEI?

Or, put another way, what do DEI policies actually result in, in practice?

If what they result in (for example) are jobs and opportunities denied to non-black people on the grounds of skin colour - as per the policy so infamously and bizarrely trumpeted by Leigh Day in 2019 (see https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/practice/firm-advertises-for-black-applicants-to-fill-demographic-gap/5101463.article ) then I don't see why we want to 'hold the line' on DEI.
