I know several solicitors who have had careers in other sectors before being admitted. They find the rule suffocating and arcane. If someone has years of experience in say IT and plainly knows how to run a client facing business then what's the problem? Why do clients need protecting from themselves? It's patronising to suggest that clients lack that ability.
