Pretty much. The thrust of the response appears to be 'You chaps clearly can't be trusted to draft documents, whereas we should be the sole guardians of who joins our exclusive club'.

I know many barristers and count many as close friends. Over several decades, I've come to expect that the ones who were privately educated tend to shout the loudest about the finest traditions etc., whereas those educated with hoi polloi seem considerably less precious about themselves. In my experience, which is fairly extensive, there is no difference in the quality of work provided between the two groups. In my experience, generally speaking, the latter group will consider their calling a privilege, rather than an often hereditary fiefdom to be defended at all costs.
