On 9 March the Law Society and Bar Council combined with lawyers in the three main political parties in a historic event at the Middle Temple Hall. About 150 to 200 people took part in a discussion on the future constitution of the UK.

The standard of discussion was very high and it is hoped that the event will make a real contribution to the ongoing debate.

The event originated from an article by Roger Smith in the Gazette on the future of the union (13 October 2014), which suggested that the legal profession should discuss the topic.

Thanks and congratulations are due to everybody involved.
