I apologise if this issue has been raised before, but am I alone in thinking how ridiculous it is in this day and age to address another firm as ‘Dear Sirs’ when probably more than half the lawyers in that firm are female?
Obviously the issue does not arise if you are writing to an individual in that firm, but surely there must be some way of addressing a firm in a less gender-exclusive fashion. What do other readers think?
