Despite lengthy and passionate discussion during the passage of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, the provision of much-needed legal aid at inquests was still denied.

So I read with interest that the High Court has granted a judicial review of the government’s policy as, so far, arguments in favour of much-needed change have resulted in disappointment, while bereaved people continue to face an unlevel playing field in the coroners’ court. This cannot be permitted to continue.
