The Teaching Staff Trust (TST) provides financial support to anyone who has been employed for five years or more in the education of children under 19 in the UK and is facing unexpected financial problems.
We help serving and retired teachers and teaching assistants, welfare staff, administrators and all those who cook, clean, maintain and supervise within educational walls. We are the only charity that specifically includes early years educators in our community.
TST concentrates solely on providing one-off financial support to individuals and is highly regarded for its rapid response and timely decision making. In 2024-25 we distributed over £500,000, supporting more than 400 individuals.
We aim to make a real difference by reducing the financial impact of bereavement, serious ill health or injury, relationship breakdown, domestic abuse, loss of home or loss of income.
TST was born out of two previous charities that had been assisting educators in financial difficulties for more than 200 years. Legacies and personal philanthropy from people who care about those who educate our children has played an important role in creating our fund, which is in increasingly high demand.
We hope that today’s educational community will continue this tradition by leaving a legacy or gift in their will, ensuring vulnerable colleagues facing hardship can get a ‘yes’ to financial support when it matters most.
