A woman who carried out a series of assaults on her partner - attacking him with a hammer, a curtain pole and a bottle - has had her jail sentence increased from eight to 12 years.

The case was brought to the Court of Appeal in London after the sentence imposed on 37-year-old Gemma Hollings was deemed ‘unduly lenient’, as the attacks ‘carried the risk of causing permanent disability or death’.

Hollings watched proceedings via a video link from prison.
