I am concerned by county courts’ insistence that a title (Mr, Mrs, Ms, etc) be given for each claimant and defendant in every case filed at court. Claims are being rejected by West Midlands courts because no title is given.

In the modern ‘gender fluid’ world we live in, I do not think it at all acceptable that those filing claim forms should be required to assign a gender to a party when we may not know with which gender they identify.

I would be interested to hear HMCTS’s view on this issue.
