A network set up last year to champion the wellbeing of general counsel has announced its first law firm partnership.

The GC Wellbeing Network has teamed up with Pinsent Masons to deliver workshops to help 'transform' careers and relationships, and manage general counsels' mental load. Sessions include a day in the life of a GC and driving organisational culture of wellbeing.

The network was founded by leadership development specialist Dr Steven MacGregor to help GCs drive wellbeing in their organisations and in their own lives. Members of the network's advisory board include legal chiefs for TV production company Fremantle, telecoms giant BT and drinks company Britvic.

MacGregor, who has worked with senior leadership teams in professional services organisations, said GCs face a ‘particularly unique set of pressures’. The network seeks to equip GCs with insights, tools and practical experience ‘to embed wellbeing as a core component of leadership and performance’ and partnering with Pinsent Masons - a founding member of the Mindful Business Charter - was a 'natural fit', MacGregor said.

Pinsent Masons senior partner Andrew Masraf said: ‘More often than not, GCs carry the weight of the responsibility they have in silence, navigating high-stakes decisions, ethical dilemmas and relentless pressure, often to tight and ever-reducing budgets.

'The GC Wellbeing Network exists to break that silence. As a firm that works with some of the world’s leading GCs and prides itself on building strong relationships with our GC community, this partnership gives us a role in helping to address this.’
