Now that a large high-profile firm has been hit by identity fraud, maybe Land Registry will agree to registering passport-sized photos of the buyers with their signatures when they register their titles. 

Even if it is only done on a voluntary basis and with restricted access to information, Registry could do this since it already collects photo and signature proofs of ID in forms ID1 and COG1. 

If the number of phone calls was anything to go by when I last suggested this, I am not the only one who thinks it would be a good idea.
