An in-house lawyer at Calyon bank, formerly Credit Agricole Indosuez, has won a bravery award for rescuing seven people from an earthquake in the Iranian city of Bam. Ruth Millington dug seven injured people, and the bodies of three who died in the disaster, out of the rubble using a shovel and her bare hands after an earthquake struck while she was on holiday. She was presented with the award by national charity the Royal Humane Society. Ms Millington has set up a charity to assist in caring for the 3,000 children who lost parents in the disaster.
