All the money that top City firms are chucking at their Gen-Z newly qualifieds can’t buy one thing: common sense. According to City freesheet CityAM, firms are resorting to bootcamps for newcomers to learn certain arcane skills.

It seems that, while Gen-Zers out-toe (sic) the oldies in AI, they ‘lack many of the critical thinking and interpersonal skills needed in roles that sell knowledge to clients’. Such as picking up the phone, pitching for business or making a judgement call without a computer at their elbow.

Hence the mandatory communication-skills training for juniors. Have Gazette readers noticed any other skills lacking in new cohorts? Do let us know.
