Congratulations to the svelte young things of Slaughter and May for taking the team honours in the inaugural Legal 5k race in London’s Regent’s Park last week. The event, organised by MD Communications, attracted 600 runners despite the dismal weather and aims ‘to promote health and wellness in the sector’.

Runners-up in the teams category were Farrer & Co (2nd) and Clyde & Co (3rd). The Law Society team managed a creditable 17th out of 64. Fastest individual runner overall was Matthew Battensby, senior associate at Burges Salmon, who managed a time of 15:56; the women’s honour went to Chloe Wilkinson of Pinsent Masons, with 18:53.

In the much-welcomed over-40s category, the fastest times were Slaughter and May’s David Ives (17:37) and Gina Galbraith from Norton Rose Fulbright.

The aim is to make the run an annual occasion. For those who want to start their training early, don’t forget next month’s (non-competitive) 20th anniversary 10k London Legal Walk
