Some of the fitter members of the legal profession will be up and about at the crack of dawn tomorrow in the latest incarnation of the Bar v Bench race.
In the 6-kilometre (plus 4k warm-up) race, members of the judiciary and the wider legal sector (including regulators) compete against each other to raise funds for access to justice.
Law Society president Mark Evans will lead the solicitor team while Mr Justice Constable captains the judicial team. Former bar chair Samuel Townend KC, who started the race tradition in 2024, will lead the barristers.
The event is in support of the London Legal Support Trust (the team behind the London Legal Walk), which raises vital funds for free legal advice charities in London and the South East.
The trust's chief executive, Nezahat Chan, said: 'We are very grateful to both Samuel Townend KC and Mr Justice Constable for leading the teams once again and supporting Bar v Bench as a standalone event. I would like to extend my thanks to Secretariat for sponsoring our runners. Together, all runners have raised over £16,000 so far. These vital funds provide life changing advice, stopping small problems from spiralling or supporting people in crisis not navigating the legal system alone. Thank you all!'
