Obiter is always on the hunt for good news. So we were delighted to receive an email from The Solicitors’ Charity announcing that one of its trustees, Audrey Ludwig, collected her MBE from HRH Princess Anne at Windsor Castle this month.

Ludwig, a specialist in equality law who founded Suffolk Law Centre, was awarded the gong, for her services to legal aid, in the King’s Birthday Honours last year.

Ludwig said: ‘It was a long day, but everyone was so welcoming and full of congratulations. All the recipients had clearly given years of service to their communities. Everyone dressed up and the families with them were all looking proud.’

Princess Anne has frequently been dubbed ‘the hardest working Royal’ and lived up to her title on the day. Ludwig said: ‘HRH Princess Anne had worked all day (back-to-back events unusually) so is still fit and yet unhurried with each recipient. She asked me about my home and the geographical reach of Suffolk Law Centre.’
