Red faces at the Financial Conduct Authority, which this week maligned an innocent law firm. On Tuesday, the City watchdog announced that it had banned the former owner of Kingsley Solicitors Ltd from financial services, after he ‘dishonestly caused or allowed more than £28 million of client money to be taken from client accounts without permission’.
Oh dear. A correction and apology swiftly followed, stating that the errant firm’s name was in fact Kingly Solicitors Ltd.
Sod’s Law dictated that there had to be a firm actually called Kingsley Solicitors.
Memo to the media team at Canary Wharf: always triple-check names before you get on your high horse. We’ve all been there. Or many of us have, anyway.
