Ok, so cheaply. Did they do a good job? What’s their percentage of complaints or claims? Price is not the only factor. Sometimes not at all.

When I bought my first property, like probably every buyer I got the cheapest solicitor. He didn’t register the property properly as there was a restriction on the title he did not remove. This meant I couldn’t remortgage for a year.

When I bought for the second time, I didn’t bother with the cheapest but got a firm that knew what it was doing. It was about 50% more than the first firm but did a superb job.

This obsession with price shows the inadequacy of regulators, who think legal services are like cans of beans. It will produce a race to the bottom.
