The Bar is, or was, a tough environment. When I qualified about one third of pupils would get a tenancy in chamber on completing their pupillage and about one third of those who became tenants would be in practice after three years. Solicitors were choosy about who they would instruct.
If a barrister cannot cope with that then a career at the Bar is not for them and the sooner they find out, and try a different career, the better.
