Many of the cases we discovered when investigating this did not involve names published on the Bona Vacantia list. The lack of scrutiny given to applications when applying for a Grant, no doubt in part caused by pressure on the Probate Registry to reduce waiting times, has seen opportunists take advantage and exploit the online system.
