I've seen this kind of article before in the Gazette. It's usually from certain firms of solicitors (Defendant firms) claiming to have won a fundamental dishonesty argument and had huge success which should serve as a lesson to all other Claimant's who might be thinking of exaggerating their claims....notably, the case details are usually missing. Why ? If they want to use the Gazette as a platform from which to brag about their wins, why not give them all of the information ? Why not name the unnamed firm of solicitors ?

Could it be because York Council might not have all of their facts straight ?

Dear Gazette,

I have recently won a housing disrepair case against a Defendant authority - my rental property had a leaky tap - fortunately an unnamed County Court ordered an unnamed authority to fix my faulty faucet and pay me £5m. Please would you give this a mention in your publication.

Yours optimistically,

Without the detail this is no more than a threat by York Council to it's tenants and their solicitors. It's a shame the Gazette have given them the publicity they were seeking.
