As others have noted, the banks are the main facilitators of money laundering. Only a few days ago, Barclays were fined £42million for failings in financial risk management, details on the FCA website.

Added to this, use of shell companies and offshore banking facilities are huge money laundering risks, yet no government is proprosing to close these loophole options as their wealthy donors use them to avoid paying tax.

The who system stinks and there are many easier ways of stopping money laundering than going after solicitors (though admittedly there will be a few bad apples advising crooks on how to launder their ill-gotten gains).
