As a Claimant Clinical Negligence Solicitor, I suspected that the costs would increase even if the number of claims did not. A couple of (in my view)items that increase the costs are:

* Expert Fees have gone up substantially.
* Cost budgeting just adds more costs to the process. It should revert to Detailed Assessment.

I attempt to save costs by having Paralegals do a lot of the work, as expected but out of an average bill, profit costs are probable around 40%. And how much does the treasury receive in VAT from the billions in costs?

They look at the headlines but when drilling down into the detail, off the bat, maybe they could remove the VAT on claims which will save hundreds of millions.
