The preparation of trial bundles is not an administrative or ancillary task but one which is integral to the retainer and duty to the court. Ergo, it is the responsibility of the lawyer on the record and/or the duly instructed advocate. Delegate the actual copying process to a junior by all means, but the selection of documents and compliance with all relevant rules and practice directions must be a buck that stops with the fee earner with care and conduct of the case. As already suggested, the courts should refuse to accept non-compliant bundles and ultimately, make appropriate wasted costs orders. Kitchen sinking the process is unprofessional and plain lazy. ♥️🐺
