Well - as usual a good QS story gets the comments section filled! What always interests me is how some of the comments attribute a malevolent, cunning nature to all QS's activities: QS are not worthy as they're just 'good at PR and marketing' - isn't that half the point of them?! I'm neutral on their virtues for firms joining them but it strikes me that they're just a business, like any other, who do their best to publicise themselves, get new business, make a profit etc. When comments say 'they've just released this to get PR to make new members want to join' - I'm sure QS would say, yes - that's exactly why we released this story...and? Why is running a business successfully such a dirty thing for some solicitors? Is it our natural discomfort with concepts like sales and marketing? This seems like a good idea on the face of it that clients will like but we don't know the detail and so can't really debate the implementation of it sensibly - good luck to them I say; they'll need it in this sometimes hostile profession of ours!
