This is a ridiculous proposal. I have just spoken with one of the extremely well-informed, polite and helpful members of staff at Durham in relation to an ongoing application. The service was, as usual, excellent. Why should the Land Registry's employees be put through this unnecessary worry and doubt over their futures?

What possible justification is there for selling LR? Surely recent evidence underlines the fact that some services simply should not be provided by the private sector?

I would urge everyone who is interested in the proper delivery of Land Registry services for the benefit of UK society to read and respond to the consultation.
